H2Global Foundation And Japan Hydrogen Association Sign MOU
June 3rd, 2024 – Today, H2Global and the Japan Hydrogen Association (JH2A) signed an MOU to formalize their ongoing collaboration. JH2A a collaborative organization with 453 member companies and organizations (as of June 1st 2024), including Toyota Motor Corporation, Iwatani Corporation, and Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, among others. Launched in December 2020, JH2A aims to promote the development of a hydrogen society in Japan by fostering public and private alliances and creating regulatory frameworks to support hydrogen initiatives.
The MOU sets out how the two organizations shall share research and collaborate by:
- Participating in committees, working groups and industry events as appropriate
- Sharing reports, educational materials and lessons learned
- Exchanging information on government policy and regulation pertinent to the hydrogen sector
- Commitment to strong collaboration aimed at supporting the alignment and growth of the Japanese, European, and global hydrogen markets
“H2Global is deepening its collaboration in Japan by signing MOUs with both government and corporate entities. This MOU means that H2Global is now able to formalize our relationship with the private sector to better understand the priorities, opportunities, and challenges facing companies, and how these might be overcome,” said Markus Exenberger, Executive Director of the H2Global Foundation.
“JH2A aims to bring together all industrial sectors to realize a hydrogen society. Hydrogen has a process of production, transportation, storage, and utilization, which is different from previous industries, and we must make a major energy transition toward carbon neutrality. A particular feature of JH2A is that financial institutions have been working together since its establishment. We hope that the collaboration with H2Global will not just be about harmonizing standards, but also how to establish future business,” said Takeshi Uchiyamada, Chairman of JH2A.
